Enter your current baseline CRS score and profile details to compare Direct Express Entry, Enhanced PNP (+600 CRS points up to the 1,270 ceiling), and Base PNP.
Direct Express Entry CRS
450 / 1,270
May require category draw or PNP boost
With Enhanced PNP (+600)
1050 / 1,270
Exceeds recent PNP draw cut-offs (713–761)
At 450 CRS with provincial work or study ties, pursuing an Enhanced PNP nomination (+600 points → 1050 CRS) alongside language/work upgrades offers the highest probability of an ITA.

How Provincial Nominee Programs Work
Canadian provinces and territories (except Quebec and Nunavut) operate Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) to nominate candidates who match regional labour market needs, provincial study/work ties, or targeted occupation streams.
Enhanced PNP vs Base PNP
Enhanced PNP streams operate directly inside the federal Express Entry pool. When a province nominates you through an enhanced stream and you accept the nomination electronically in your IRCC account, 600 Additional Points are added to your CRS score—virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next PNP or general draw.
Base PNP streams operate outside Express Entry. Candidates apply to the province first, receive a paper/portal nomination certificate, and then submit a separate non-Express Entry permanent residence application to IRCC. Base PNP does not add +600 CRS points.
How +600 PNP Points Work in CRS
Under the 1,270-point CRS architecture, the Additional Points category has a total cap of 600 points. Because an enhanced Provincial Nomination awards the full 600 points by itself, any existing Additional Points (such as +15/+30 for Canadian study, +15 for a sibling in Canada, or +25/+50 for French NCLC 7+) are capped at 600 total Additional Points. Your Core / Human Capital (up to 570 single / 530 with spouse) and Skill Transferability (up to 100) are added on top, up to the 1,270 maximum.
When to Focus on Direct Express Entry vs PNP
Model Your Score With +600 PNP in Full Calculator →Direct Express Entry (510+ CRS or Category Fit)
Best for candidates scoring 510–530+ in CEC, or 410–480+ with French NCLC 7+ or targeted healthcare/STEM/trades experience.
Enhanced PNP (350–490 CRS in Pool)
Best for candidates who qualify for CEC/FSW/FST but need +600 points to clear high general/CEC cut-offs and hold provincial ties or targeted occupations.
Base PNP (Outside Express Entry)
Best for workers or graduates in a Canadian province who do not yet meet the federal 67-point FSW grid or TEER 0–3 CEC threshold.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an Enhanced PNP and a Base PNP?
An Enhanced PNP stream is aligned directly with the federal Express Entry system: once nominated, you receive +600 Additional CRS points in your Express Entry profile and are invited in the next PNP or general draw. A Base PNP stream operates outside Express Entry; you apply to the province first and then submit a separate non-Express Entry federal permanent residence application.
Does a Provincial Nomination always add 600 points to my CRS score?
Only an Enhanced (Express Entry-linked) provincial nomination certificate accepted inside your Express Entry profile adds +600 Additional Points. Because the Additional Points section is capped at 600 total, a PNP nomination maxes out the entire Additional Points category.
Why were October 2026 PNP Express Entry draw cut-offs 761 and 772?
In PNP-only draws (such as Draw #451 at 761 and Draw #448 at 772), every invited candidate already has +600 nomination points included in their score. A 761 cut-off means the candidate had a base CRS score of 161 plus 600 PNP points.
Should I pursue a PNP if my CRS score is between 400 and 470?
If you do not qualify for lower-cut-off category draws (like French-Language Proficiency at 407), pursuing an Enhanced PNP in a province where you have work experience, study ties, an eligible job offer, or a targeted occupation is one of the most reliable ways to bridge a 400–470 score to an ITA.
Do I have to live in the nominating province after becoming a permanent resident?
Yes. Both the nominating province and IRCC require a genuine intention to reside and establish yourself economically in the province or territory that nominated you.
