CELPIP-General Direct 1:1 Benchmark Mapping
- Confirm that your results are from the 4-skill CELPIP-General test (CELPIP-General LS 2-skill test is for citizenship only and is not valid for Express Entry).

Moving from CELPIP 8 to CELPIP 9 in a single skill adds 8 Core points (single) and helps unlock CLB 9 Skill Transferability. Moving from CELPIP 9 to CELPIP 10 adds a further 3 Core points per skill (up to +12 points across all four abilities).
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get extra CRS points for scoring CELPIP 11 or 12 instead of 10?
No. In the CRS system, CLB 10 is the maximum scored tier (34 points per skill single / 32 with accompanying spouse). CELPIP scores of 10, 11, and 12 all earn the same maximum CLB 10 points.
Is CELPIP-General LS accepted for Express Entry?
No. CELPIP-General LS only tests Listening and Speaking for Canadian citizenship applications. Express Entry requires the full four-skill CELPIP-General test.
How does CELPIP scoring compare to IELTS General Training?
CELPIP uses whole numbers (1–12) and is fully computer-delivered in one sitting, whereas IELTS uses 0.5 band increments (0.0–9.0). Both convert to the exact same CLB point values in Express Entry.
