CRS Labour Market Integration Points

Labour Market Integration evaluates your economic establishment in Canada across two distinct, non-additive pathways: Qualifying Canadian Work Experience in High-Wage Occupations (Path 1) and Qualifying High-Wage Job Offers (Path 2).

What Is Labour Market Integration?

Following IRCC’s structural overhaul of employment-related CRS points (including the removal of automatic 50/200 LMIA arranged employment points on March 25, 2025), the Labour Market Integration module evaluates verifiable wage levels and occupational alignment rather than simple job offer checkboxes.

Canadian Work Experience Path

Path 1 evaluates applicants who have completed at least 1 year (or 2+ years) of qualifying, T4-verifiable Canadian skilled work experience in an eligible NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation where their earned wage meets or exceeds specific multiples of the regional/occupational median wage.

High-Wage Occupation Rules

Both Path 1 and Path 2 require the occupation to fall within skilled NOC 2021 TEER categories (TEER 0 management, TEER 1 professional, TEER 2 technical, or TEER 3 skilled trades). Unskilled TEER 4 and TEER 5 roles are ineligible.

Qualifying High-Wage Job Offers

Path 2 evaluates a qualifying, continuous, full-time (30+ hours/week), non-seasonal Canadian job offer valid for at least one year after permanent residence is issued, supported by verified employer compliance and meeting the applicable median wage multiplier.

Wage Multipliers Explained

Three wage multiplier tiers are assessed against the prevailing median wage for the occupation and work location:

• 1.3x Median Wage Threshold: Awards 25 points (1 yr Cdn work) / 35 points (2+ yrs Cdn work) under Path 1, or 25 points under Path 2.

• 1.5x Median Wage Threshold: Awards 35 points (1 yr Cdn work) / 50 points (2+ yrs Cdn work) under Path 1, or 50 points under Path 2.

• 2.0x Median Wage Threshold: Awards 50 points (1 yr Cdn work) / 75 points (2+ yrs Cdn work) under Path 1, or 100 points under Path 2.

How the Two Paths Are Compared

Critical Calculation Rule: Path 1 (Canadian Work Experience) and Path 2 (Qualifying High-Wage Job Offer) can NEVER be added together. Our CRS Engine calculates Path 1 and Path 2 independently and awards only the single higher eligible score. If neither path meets all qualification criteria, 0 points are awarded.

LMIA and CRS Job Offer Changes

Effective March 25, 2025, IRCC eliminated the legacy 50-point (TEER 0/1/2/3) and 200-point (TEER 00) CRS bonus for standard LMIA or LMIA-exempt job offers. Note that while an LMIA is no longer a sufficient standalone trigger for CRS bonus points, valid arranged employment can still remain relevant for Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) 67-point selection grid adaptability/employment factors or work permit issuance.

Worked CRS Example

Practical Calculation Example: Comparing Path 1 and Path 2 Without Double-Counting

Marcus has 2 years of Canadian work experience as a Senior Software Engineer (TEER 1) earning 1.5x the median wage (Path 1 = 50 points) and holds a continuous full-time job offer at 2.0x the median wage (Path 2 = 100 points).

Calculation Takeaway: Because Path 1 (50 pts) and Path 2 (100 pts) cannot be combined, the CRS Engine compares both paths and awards the higher eligible score of 100 points (not 150 points).
Verification Checklist

Common Assessment Mistakes

  • Adding Canadian Work Experience Labour Market Integration points on top of Qualifying High-Wage Job Offer points.
  • Checking "Yes" to a job offer without verifying full-time continuous duration (≥1 year), TEER 0–3 classification, and wage multiplier thresholds.
  • Confusing CRS job offer rules with Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) 67-point arranged employment rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add Path 1 (Canadian Work Experience) and Path 2 (High-Wage Job Offer) points together?

No. Under the Labour Market Integration rules, Path 1 and Path 2 are mutually exclusive. Both paths are evaluated separately and only the higher eligible score is added to your CRS total.

Did IRCC remove the old 50 and 200 LMIA job offer points?

Yes. On March 25, 2025, IRCC updated the Ministerial Instructions to remove the automatic 50-point and 200-point CRS bonus for standard LMIA-backed job offers for all candidates in the Express Entry pool.

Does a regular job offer without wage/TEER verification give CRS points?

No. A standard employment letter does not automatically grant CRS points. All occupational TEER, duration, and wage multiplier criteria must be satisfied.
