FSW 67 Points vs CRS Score

The FSW 67-point grid and the 1,270-point CRS score serve two completely different stages. First, FSW applicants must score at least 67 / 100 to qualify to enter the Express Entry pool. Once inside the pool, your 67-point score is not used for draw invitations—instead, IRCC ranks your profile on the 1,270-point CRS scale.

Minimum FSW Eligibility Requirements

Check All 3 Express Entry Programs →
  • Continuous Skilled Work: At least 1 year (1,560 hours) of continuous, paid work experience in a single primary NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation within the last 10 years.
  • Language Threshold: Minimum CLB 7 (or NCLC 7) in all four abilities on an approved language test.
  • Education: Canadian secondary/post-secondary credential or a foreign credential supported by a valid ECA report.
  • Proof of Settlement Funds: Required unless you are currently authorized to work in Canada and hold a valid arranged employment offer.

How to Improve Your FSW Score

If your FSW selection score is between 60 and 66 points, raising your first language from CLB 7 (16 pts) to CLB 8 (20 pts) or CLB 9 (24 pts) adds +4 to +8 points immediately. Having an accompanying spouse achieve CLB 4 in all four skills adds +5 Adaptability points, and reaching CLB 5+ in a second official language adds +4 points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does scoring 67 out of 100 guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

No. Scoring 67 or higher out of 100 on the FSW selection grid only satisfies the Federal Skilled Worker program eligibility requirement to enter the Express Entry pool. Once in the pool, you are ranked by your CRS score out of 1,270 against draw cut-offs.

Can I pass the 67-point grid if one of my language skills is CLB 6?

No. Even if your other factors add up to 67+ points, FSW has a mandatory minimum requirement of CLB/NCLC 7 across all four abilities (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) in your first official language.

Does FSW require my 1 year of skilled work experience to be continuous?

Yes. For your primary FSW occupation, you must have at least 1 year (1,560 hours) of continuous full-time (or equivalent continuous part-time) paid work experience within the last 10 years in a single NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation.

How is age scored differently in the FSW 67-point grid compared to CRS?

In the FSW 67-point grid, applicants receive the full maximum of 12 age points from age 18 all the way through age 35 (losing 1 point per year from 36 to 46, and 0 at 47+). In CRS, maximum age points end at age 29 and drop to 0 at age 45.

Which relatives in Canada count for the +5 Adaptability points in FSW?

For the FSW 67-point Adaptability factor, an eligible relative living in Canada who is 18+ and a citizen or permanent resident includes a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, sibling, aunt/uncle, or niece/nephew of you or your spouse. Note that in the CRS system, only a sibling counts for +15 Additional Points.
